Cell Phone Numbers and Cell Phone Number Portability

Cell Phone Number Portability is a new rule that was passed that allows a cell phone customer to keep his or her cell phone number when swithcing between cell phone carriers. This is a great law because the consumer can keep their current cell phone number and thus will not have to give out a new number to all of their friends and family when switching carriers.

This is a service that most all cell phone companies offer and is usually free. There are however a few carriers that charge to keep you same cell phone number.
